Fall Fun
Just a few ideas for fall fun!

Apples
*Make matching games with apple shapes cut out of construction paper.
Cover them in clear contact paper and they can be written on and reused.
*Make apple prints by cutting an apple in half and stamping on paper.
*Make a graph of everyone’s favorite color apple.
*Paint with red, green and yellow to make apple pictures.
*Create paper bag apples by filling up a paper bag lunch sack half way with crumpled newspapers. Twist the top to form the stem and cover it with masking tape. Paint the apples any color. Cut a leaf from green construction paper or paint one and attach it to the stem. Make as many as you want and pretend to pick them at an orchard or make a centerpiece for your table.
*Squirmy-Wormy Apple Treats- Core an apple. Mix together 2tbsp peanut butter and 1 tbsp granola and stuff into the core of the apple. Place a gummy worm in the peanut butter mixture and serve as a yummy fun treat.

Pumpkins
*Cut open a pumpkin and scoop out the insides. Let the kids find all the pumpkin seeds and put them in containers. Wash them off and let them dry. Then bake them for a fun treat.
*Paint your pumpkins instead of carving them.
*Create paper bag pumpkins by following the paper bag apple directions but paint them orange. You can paint faces on them or leave them plain and set them out for decorations. Have a pumpkin patch in your own house.
*Draw a pumpkin a piece of paper and give your child red and yellow paint. Have them mix the colors together to paint the pumpkin.
*Draw, print or cut out the letter P and cover it with pictures of pumpkins from magazines.

Leaves
*Collect leaves from around the neighborhood and sort them by color, shape or size.
*Glue colorful leaves to a piece of construction paper. Cover it with clear contact paper and create a unique placemat.
*Paint with red, orange, purple, green, yellow and brown. Make a tree or leaves.
*Make leaf people by gluing a leaf to a sheet of paper and decorating it with crayons or string to create a person or animal.
*Create a family handprint tree by drawing a tree trunk on a large sheet of paper. Using fall colors of paint, dip your hands in and make leaves on the tree of all different sizes. For added learning, use only red and yellow paint- one color on each hand. Make lots of yellow and red prints and then put hands together to make orange prints.
*Save colorful leaves to last all year by placing them between two sheets of waxed paper. Lay several layers of newspaper over and under the waxed paper and press with a warm iron.
*Do leaf rubbings by gently rubbing a crayon over the paper with a leaf under it. Don't forget the tree trunk as well.
*Draw a brown tree on a piece of paper and make fingerprint leaves. Pour red, yellow and orange paint on 3 separate sponges. Have your child dip their finger tips in the paint and make the print on the tree for the leaves. Don't forget to have some on the ground that have already fallen from the tree!

Scarecrows
*Make a construction scarecrow and decorate it with fabric pieces and real straw.

Acorns
*Collect them and count them. Put them in a container next to a tree for the squirrels to each and then watch for them to come.
